TYPES OF LENSES

There are many different types of lenses available and your optometrist can guide you in your choice so have you have the right lenses for your lifestyle and needs.

We provide single vision, bifocals and varifocals in a wide range of options and forms.  You can have prescription sportswear, safety spectacles, sunglasses, photochromatic lenses, driving lenses and much more.

Lenses options can be discussed after your eye examination with the optometrist or with any of the optical advisor team.  Below we have detailed some of the options available when buying your glasses at Yarrow and Harvey.

PROGRESSIVE / VARIFOCALS

Varifocal lenses consist of 3 viewing zones to allow seamless vision without the need to change glasses depending on what you are doing.  The upper area of the lens provides clear distance vision, with the middle zone the area that allows your eyes to smoothly transition between distance and near vision.  The lower area of the lens provides sharp vision close up.  The more advanced the varifocal lens the more tailored to your individual requirements meaning less distortions.

OCCUPATIONAL LENSES

Occupational or indoor lenses are designed specifically for prolonged visual tasks, like working in an office, to help alleviate eye strain and even reduce eye fatigue.  Indoor lenses can be specifically designed for those patients who demand crystal-clear vision at work or when completing detailed tasks at close proximity.

HOYA ENROUTE

Most driving time is spent looking ahead, which requires wide, clear visual fields. However, the eyes also have to shift quickly between different viewing distances with minimal head movements: from the road to the navigation device, from the mirrors to the dashboard. Focusing and refocusing can be especially challenging for older drivers. EnRoute Single Vision and Progressive lenses for driving can offer the visual support that is needed, enhancing contrast, improving clarity and colour perception.
EnRoute Progressive incorporates Hoya’s renowned technologies: Integrated Double Surface Design for wider visual fields and fast switching between distances; and Balanced View Control for stable image perception in dynamic driving situations.

COATINGS

Sick of scratches on your lenses?  We have different coatings for your lenses that can help prolong the life of your glasses.

Get headaches from working at a computer screen all day?  Why not try a BlueControl coating to neutralise blue light, preventing eye strain and fatigue while reducing glare for a more comfortable and relaxed vision.

Coatings can make your lenses scratch resistant, anti-reflective, and/or water, dirt and dust repellent.

Ask a your optometrist or an optical advisor to find your perfect coating.

LENS INDEX

Worried about the cosmetic look of your spectacles?  Don't worry we have the in house facilities to be able to show you a 3D visualisation of your lenses before you commit to purchasing them.  We can show you direct comparisons of various lens options so you can the difference and decide whether thinner lenses would be worthwhile for you.
